In this course, some of the plants that, in our popular culture, are related to witches will be known and studied. Potions, ointments, bouquets of protection and rituals will be made
Introduction to the concept of witch in history and legend.
Women accused of witchcraft, tortured and sentenced to death in medieval Europe had a great knowledge of the plants around them.
Many of these women, from the humblest classes, used to act as healers and midwives and used the plants to prepare remedies and spells
We will approach the world of witches' herbs in a playful way. We will learn about the popular knowledge that women had and understand why this knowledge was wanted to be destroyed through the genocide against women (called witches), which was carried out in medieval Europe
The witch, protagonist of legends and tales, is a great connoisseur and herb gatherer that she uses to prepare, in a large pearl, ointments and potions
When historians and anthropologists study the phenomenon of witchcraft, they attribute the mythical flight of witches to the consumption of certain toxic and hallucinogenic plants, which cause an intense sensation of flying.
Contents:
- Hallucinogenic plants: stramonium, mandrake, reig bord, belladonna, cascall, digitalis, jusquiam, aconite, hemp, maidenhair tree and hemlock
- Plants to regulate menstruation and to facilitate childbirth: rue, mugwort, courgette, gitam and calendula
